Lilys of Traunik & The Mikulich General Store
2010 Events

Continued ... ...

As a general store, and in addition to the wonderful treats you got at Lily's, there will be several new reasons to stop here.

One of the biggest new experiences here will be a Deli. The Deli will include not only sandwiches, homemade soups, and salads, but an array of to-go Italian cuisine..what exactly, well, you'll just have to visit to see.

There will be several specialty meats and cheeses that are hard, if not impossible to find. Wait until you try some of their relishes, chutneys and tapenades that they make to accompany their sandwiches and meals. Texas pit style BBQ is another fare that they will be cooking on certain days, brisket, ribs, pork roasts, chickens, mmm mmm, wait til ya taste this stuff.

In addition to all the consumable products, there will be an assortment of quick fix hardware supplies, yard tools, and camping/hunting camp items available. David would like to at some point, have an order anything service (within reason), of an item a customer may need, and can't be bought locally.

The overall direction of the property is to continue to preserve the history that has been experienced not only in this building but in the community. That way, not only are the patrons able to purchase the goods they are seeking, but to take in the local heritage and be reminded of the days that have gone by in Traunik. The other mission is to be a family oriented business, that not only caters to the adults, but to the youth, and the children that visit the store.

David and Laura are very open to public suggestions as to what items that the local community wants and needs. All the general items, milk, eggs, bread, veggies, etc of course will be on the shelves, but there is area for the locals favorites. They figure if they supply the items you want, you will continue to do business with them. In return, the business will be profitable and able to stay open to continually serve the local public year round.

February 2010

Hello/Zxivjo,

We are David and Laura, proud new owners of the Mikulich General Store, aka Lily's of Traunik.

First, I'd like to thank Amy and Jeff for selling us this wonderful old store, most of all, for all the hard, beautiful restoration and updating work they have done to the property. They really not only put their heart and soul into saving this wonderful slice of history. I, as well as the local community, I'm sure, are proud that you gave extended life to this building, this area, and the heritage and history for which it represents.
Thank You.

OK, well, Hello Traunik and Alger County!
We are so looking forward to moving to this community and being a part of preserving history, while also providing people with a worthwhile service. You will find that our standards are high, and we believe that Customer Service is our number one priority. Superior products, and attention to detail still have a place in this microwave world that we live in today. Quality over quantity has been all but killed by the industrial revolution. So not only do we want to preserve the history by putting it up on the walls, but also in our business practices and provide an experience, you'll want, and be able to relive every time you visit the store.

By the time we get our house sold and moved up north to the area, it will be late spring/early summer. Hopefully we'll get the store open by late summer. Though we would like to participate at some level with the Slovenian 4th of July Celebration at the Community Center across the street. Whether we have an open house, Meet and Greet, or in a fashion that we are able to handle, depending on how far we have the store from opening. Either way, we will be at the Celebration and would love to meet everyone in the community and from abroad that participates.

Until then, be patient, we are coming, and will be open year around as soon as we can get everything properly in order. When we do get open, you will be treated to a step back in history, as to the way things are done. Cutting corners only turns a square into a stop sign, and we want to keep moving, not stop, with this business.

Thank You, Take Care, & Live Happy,

David and Lodi
